The newborn infant is smiling, emanating joy in the room,
Like baby trees sprouting, underneath their mother who looms.
A girl is consoled by her best friend, and her tears he did wipe,
Like the sun dries the water, from a storm the previous night.
Two lovers kiss under a moonlit night, on an old wooden pier,
Like the stars that help to magnify their glow, each a heavenly tear.
A joyous day at the park, where a mother watches her children play,
Like the trees and the grass, who watch over the leaves all day.
One lonely sentinel in a cabin, learning the mysteries of life unfound,
Like a tree in a metropolis, the workers dare not raze to the ground.
An old man dying on his deathbed, with but a few weeks to live,
Like a withered plant you still water, for love to all things you give.
Finding the essence of nature, in the doings of human beings,
Is like trying to solve a riddle, without feeling, hearing, or seeing.
